Summary: Message from Chief Ronnell Higgins
To the Yale Community:
I write to let you know that the New Haven Police have notified us of a burglary that occurred early yesterday morning at 17 Edgewood Avenue at around 5:00 AM (Click here to view the incident's location). An undergraduate student awoke to find a male intruder leaving through the rear door of the apartment, with a laptop and other items. No injuries were reported and the New Haven Police are investigating.
The summer time, in particular, is a time for heightened awareness for burglaries. We are asking community members to take precautions of locking all outside doors and windows before leaving houses or apartments and before retiring for the night. Be sure to have adequate exterior lighting and leave the lights on in the evening. Make your home look occupied and make it difficult to break in if you are going to be away.
If you have any information regarding this case or should witness suspicious activity, please report it immediately to the Yale Police at 203-432-4400.
Ronnell A. Higgins
Chief of Police
